Hello CAPA community! I’m Olivia Pasian, a Digital Futures MDes graduate student at OCAD University. I am a Graphic and Web Designer with a research focus on the future of socialization in the digital age. I graduated with a BDes in Graphic Design and minor in Illustration from OCAD last year and my many years of customer service experience has given me an appreciation for meeting new people and collaborating with others. I’m based in Toronto but I was born and raised in Hamilton! In my free time, you’ll usually catch me reading or hanging out with my cat, George.

My role with CAPA is to design clear and engaging methods of sharing current research. That means working on the website and other projects to turn detailed research into easy-to-understand visuals and content. The goal is to make the important work the team is doing more accessible to those who need it.

I’m excited to collaborate with everyone and contribute my perspective as a designer to the project. I’m deeply moved by CAPA’s mission of inclusivity and empowerment, especially after hearing from friends and family about their experiences living with physical limitations—and the discouraging messages they’ve received from the healthcare system that they “shouldn’t have” the symptoms they do. I believe that bringing designers into the healthcare space can harness the power of visual communication to make research and information more accessible, engaging, and impactful.
