The newborn and infant periods are important for determining long-term health and development. The Disability and Pregnancy Study (a research program) presents the new report that summarizes existing literature on the health outcomes of newborns and infants born to women with disabilities. These findings also suggest the need to consider what services may benefit women with disabilities. This work is conducted by an international team of researchers in partnership with a dedicated Advisory Committee comprised of individuals with lived experience, service-providers, and policy-makers.

This research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and is led by researchers at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health, Women’s College Hospital, Ohio State University, St. Michael’s Hospital, Northeastern University, ICES, and an advisory committee that includes women with disabilities and organizations that serve people with disabilities.
