Health Canada reviewing concerns about TAVNEOS (avacopan)

Health Canada has issued guidance about TAVNEOS (avacopan), a medication used with other treatments for adults with severe active ANCA-associated vasculitis, including granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis. Health Canada is reviewing concerns about the reliability of data from the main clinical trial used to support the approval of TAVNEOS in Canada. These concerns raise questions about how well the medication works.

Health Canada advises that patients should not stop taking TAVNEOS without first speaking to their healthcare professional. Patients currently taking TAVNEOS should contact their healthcare professional to discuss their treatment and whether another therapy may be appropriate.
