The Research Team at the University of Waterloo is working on the development of an evidence-based deprescribing guideline for opioid medications for persons over 55 years of age. This project is led by Dr. Feng Chang, a clinical pharmacist at the School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo. For this project, they are recruiting participants with past or present opioid use or deprescribing (dose reduction) experience who are over 45 years old (preferably 55 years+).

  • Contribution: Participants would become a part of our diverse project team of researchers and clinicians and they would share their views on opioid use and deprescribing at our virtual team meetings as specific key topics are being discussed. Participants will be requested to attend some virtual training sessions.
  • Timeline: There will be 4 training sessions held (once a month) between December 2021 and March 2022. Meetings will start in April 2022, and there will be a total of 3-4 meetings between April-September 2022.
  • Compensation: As a token of our appreciation for participants’ time and input, each participant will receive: $150 per session and $50 per training session.
