We are looking to speak with people with arthritis and related rheumatic conditions to learn how the conditions affect how they participate in meaningful leisure activities. We are working with two Occupational Therapy (OT) students from McMaster University, Stephanie Pasangha and Megan LaHay – check out their photos to the right!

Their role as OTs is to support people to engage in activities that are meaningful to them — daily activities, work, and leisure — despite the barriers in their life. You would be working with CAPA to better understand how arthritis affects the way  people participate in activities they enjoy.

What is this project about?

We want to hear how you are doing the things you love — whether it’s gardening, cooking, art, movement, or something else. What helps? What have you changed? What makes it possible? This project aims to learn about people’s lived experiences, including what you do to keep enjoying life, the current strategies you’re using and any challenges you’re experiencing.

Who can participate?

We are looking to speak with:

  • People living with arthritis and related rheumatic conditions (e.g., fibromyalgia, lupus, psoriatic disease)
  • Caregivers (e.g., family, friends, neighbours) of people living with arthritis and related rheumatic conditions
What will happen with the information?

The insights gathered from these interviews will be used to develop a tip sheet or resource to help people engage in the activities that are most meaningful to them. These resources will:

  • Be made publicly available on the CAPA website
  • Be provided to people who participated in the interviews
  • Be part of a presentation by Stephanie and Megan during a symposium at McMaster University for professors and other OT students

All information that is shared during interviews will remain confidential.

Honorarium

Participants will receive a $50 honorarium or gift card of their choice! We are happy to answer any questions and welcome you to sign up through this survey link!
