We’re excited to announce the launch of a new initiative: the creation of a Francophone Support and Resources Advisory Committee! This group will play a vital role in guiding the Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance (CAPA) in creating French-language resources and support for Francophones living with or affected by arthritis.

Over the years, CAPA community members have told us how important it is to have access to educational materials in French. In response, we’ve translated many of our resources and our website. Now, we’re taking the next step by forming a committee of up to five individuals who have first-hand experience with arthritis. Together, we’ll identify the key needs of Francophones and develop a plan to address them over the next year.

What’s Involved?

As a member of the Advisory Committee, you will be expected to:

      • Attend two virtual meetings (1–2 hours each) to share your experiences and help identify priorities for French-language content and projects.
      • Work collaboratively with fellow members in a respectful way and appreciate different perspectives.
      • Actively contribute to discussions and provide feedback using Basecamp, an online platform (training will be provided).
      • Offer constructive input on a draft action plan and complete an evaluation survey about your experience.

Time Commitment: January to April 2025

Compensation: Members will receive an honorarium of $250 to recognize your time and expertise. If you’re comfortable, we’ll also recognize you on our website and social media.

How to apply

If you are interested in participating in the Advisory Committee, please email or send a short video to director@arthritispatient.ca by January 15, 2025 with the following information:

      • Why you’d like to join the committee and your experience with arthritis.
      • How your skills, perspectives, or passions can contribute to the committee.
      • Where you live.
      • Optional: Any aspects of your identity (e.g., cultural background, LGBTQ2S+, youth) that you feel would bring valuable perspectives.
      • Anything else you’d like us to know about your motivation.

We look forward to hearing from you and working together to better support Francophones with arthritis!
